Center Sponsors "Going to Texas: Five Centuries of Texas Maps," 2007-2010

The Center sponsored the "Going to Texas: Five Centuries of Texas Maps," which opened on November 2, 2007, at the Dallas Historical Society, Old Red Museum and will conclude at the National Cowgirl Museum and Hall of Fame, closing on January 3, 2010. April 2006

The Center received a grant from The Jane and John Justin Foundation for on-going operational expenses.

 

Center Sponsors "Texas Flag Exhibition," 2004-2006

The Center sponsored the Texas Flag Exhibit, which opened on February 28, 2004, at the Bob Bullock Texas State History Museum in Austin and concluded at the National Cowgirl Museum and Hall of Fame, closing on February 12, 2006. For information regarding the exhibition, click on "Texas Flags."

October 2004

The Center for Texas Studies has been chosen to participate with the Fort Worth Independent School District in a Department of Education "Teaching American History Grant."

 

October 2003 Red Steagall Cowboy Gathering

The Center helped sponsor the Red Steagall Cowboy Gathering and Western Swing Festival.

 

September 2003

The Center received a $10,000 grant from The Summerlee Foundation to conduct community public history workshops.

 

November 2002

The Center for Texas Studies received a grant from the Amon G. Carter Foundation to conduct Teacher Education Workshops during 2003 and 2004.

 

October 2002

TCU received $1.5 million donation to establish the Ralph and Erma Lowe Chair in Texas history. This generous donation will create the first chair at any Texas university dedicated exclusively to the history of the Lone Star State.
